We invite all of our parish family and friends to come together for food, fellowship and fun, including games for all ages and surprises. Chicken and hot dogs will be provided (with donations accepted). Please bring a salad dish to share. We invite your help for set-up (Saturday, 8/16, 4:00 p.m.) and cleanup. Please contact Joann MacRae or Rev. Jane for information. Annual Grace Church Barbeque: Don't miss this upcoming event, planned for Saturday afternoon from 5 to 7 pm, June 21st. Grace Church Youth: Saturday, May 10, 9am-3pm: Grace Church Flea Market. This year's Flea Market was an unqualified success! Thanks to all who helped and bought Fleas. Proceeds will benefit youth programs. Friday, May 30, 6 pm: Youth Coffee House at World Vision Experience: AIDS. This is a multi-media, interactive exhibit of an African village, including a home, school, and clinic, at First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown. (See attached flyer). We will car-pool from Grace Church at 5:30 p.m. Contact: Lynn Sabin or Mother Jane. Pre-registration required. Monday, July 21 – Friday, July 25: Vacation Bible School with United Methodist Church, Pemberton. We will partner again for this early evening event. Your assistance will be needed to help with activities and worship for children. More information to follow. Contact: Church Office. Other events to be scheduled: organizational meeting for all those interested in becoming involved with our youth and Christian formation activities, Pool Party/Acolyte Recognition, Picnic for Kids at Sunbury, autumn Youth Service/Instructed Eucharist. Upcoming Diocese of NJ Youth Events in which we hope to join 10/18: TLC (Together Learning and Caring), 9am-3pm – a program at The Evergreens (a continuing care community in Moorestown) with interactions/games/lunch with senior residents—for grades 6-12 11/21-23: Fall Youth Event at Camp Lebanon, Lebanon NJ for grades 6-12. Overnight. 12/6: Generation Celebration (maybe with Hip-Hop Mass) at St. John’s, Elizabeth, 11am-2 pm 12/27/08-1/1/09: Youth Retreat at Kanuga Conference/Retreat Center in North Carolina for grades 9-12 – approximate cost if $400/person. DNJ pays for bus transportation, maybe picking up youth from Diocese of Washington DC and Maryland. Sunday, 9/7: Canon Kep Short, Director of Youth Ministry will be with us during the 9:30 a.m. service and speak about youth activities in our diocese. Diocesan Youth Council: There are still openings for youth on Diocesan Youth Council – deadline for applying is 6/1/08. This involves Saturday meetings at Diocesan House, approximately every other month during the school year. Grace Church adults interested in youth will help with transportation if any of our young people would be interested in serving. This is a wonderful opportunity for building leadership skills. Announcements for May 2008: Special Service: Choral Evensong for Feast of the Ascension. Special Music & Choir. May 1, 7:30 p.m., followed by reception in the Parish Hall. Volunteers needed to set up. Christian Formation: Session for May 1, and May 8, 2008, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Preparation for Holy Communion. All children and parents are invited to attend. RSVP to church office or contact Marge Herbert or Rev. Jane. Gather your fleas!! The Spring Flea Market will be held on May 10, 9am to 2pm, the proceeds will benefit Youth Programs. We will need volunteers to help coordinate, set up, sell throughout the day, and clean up. Please contact Joann MacRae. Pentecost Sunday, May 11, we will celebrate with Birthday Cakes after the 9:30 service. Helen Whitby will coordinate this event. Please plan to stay and enjoy birthday cake with others who share your birthday month! Prayers: We are seeking to be in better touch with the needs of those on our prayer list. Kindly list your prayer requests on the log in the back of the church or call the office. We will keep prayer requests on our list for four weeks and will depend on you for updates, especially if there is a continuing need for prayers. For reasons of confidentiality, please get permission to list his/her name from any person for whom we will be praying. Vermont Retreat: Due to insufficient interest there will be no Vermont retreat this year. We will be forming a group that will meet over the summer to develop a youth program to begin this autumn and also we hope Grace Church will become involved with the Diocesan Youth Program. Please be in touch with Rev. Jane to become involved. Prayer Shawl Ministry - Please be in touch with Jeanne Maskell if you are interested in knitting or crocheting or have someone to be added to this list of recipients. Kindly see her if you would like to participate, donate to defray expenses, or have someone you would like to receive a shawl. Drop an envelope in the collection plate marked 'Prayer Shawls'. Rector's Office Hours: Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to noon. Volunteer Opportunity: Habitat for Humanity Participate in a building project with the Burlington County Convocation of Episcopal Churches May 10, Broad Street in Beverly 8:30 a.m to about 3:30 p.m.; Minimum age: 16 Morning Prayer, 8:00 a.m. St. Stephens Church, 158 Warren St., Beverly Coffee and lunch breaks provided by St. Stephens EYC We need your help! We are currently providing food for 4 to 6 families in a week. Our supplies are very low. We are in need of non-perishable food for the food pantry. We need mostly canned goods: coffee, soups, tuna, spaghetti, and vegetables. Christian Formation: Godly Play (for children 3-kindergarten) meets in the Godly Play room of White Hall and is coordinated by Jeanne Maskell. Children in grades 1 through 6 will meet in classroom 1 of Nowell Hall with shared prayers and age-appropriate programs. Children will come in to church at the offertory. Acolytes may process and then join their class. Questions or to volunteer, please contact Marge Herbert, Director of Christian Formation. We can use extra mentors for the childrens programs. |
